UNPLUGGED

Disconnect to Connect

APRIL 12 - 14

The majority of women in prison have suffered trauma and abuse which has been a driver to incarceration.

Imprisonment, by its nature, is dehumanising, isolating, and intimidating. This can impact mental and physical health, diminish hope, and reduce capacity to create change.

In this space Prison Network aims to be a source of hope, dignity and purpose.

We journey with women in and beyond prison, providing the support and courage they need to navigate positive pathways and create change. We help strengthen family and community ties and improve outcomes for children with a mother in prison.

Through this relational support we see inter-generational cycles of incarceration and disadvantage forever disrupted.

What we do

In Prison

We deliver a range of in-prison programs that build a sense of hope, and preconditions for change, reduce shame and stigma, and strengthen capacity for positive relationships, including those with children.

Keeping Kids Connected

When a mother spends time in prison it creates an adverse experience for her children that can have a lifelong impact. We aim to minimise that impact by creating opportunities for children to positively connect and share meaningful, fun experiences together.

Post Release

Breaking out of the vicious cycle of intensifying vulnerability and sometimes repeated incarceration can seem impossible. To help disrupt that cycle we support women post release with housing, employment, and the rebuilding of their lives.
