Child Safety at Prison Network

Prison Network is committed to promoting and protecting the best interests of children involved in its programs.

Prison Network has zero tolerance for child abuse. All children, regardless of their gender, race, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, or family, cultural or linguistic background, have equal rights to protection from abuse.

Child safety is a shared responsibility between Prison Network, its staff, volunteers, contractors, associates, and members of the Prison Network community. Everyone at Prison Network is responsible for the protection of the children within its care and for reporting information about suspected child abuse or other safety issues.

Any concerns about child safety can be reported to the appointed Prison Network Child Safety Officer. Action will be taken to contact relevant authorities (for example, the Police or the Commission for Children and Young People) and also to access any required support services. Where appropriate, the child’s parent, guardian or carer may be made aware of the concern and the action(s) to be taken. Prison Network will treat all concerns or complaints with utmost respect and confidentiality.

If any person believes a child is at immediate risk of abuse or in any danger, they should call the police on 000.
